Prof Narcisse Moelle Kombi: “40 years after 1984, here we are again in Ivory Coast”

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education attended the first training session of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on January 11, 2024. It was at the southern field of the Houphouet Boigny National Polytechnic Institute in Yamoussoukro.
An opportunity seized by the member of the government to galvanize the gang in Rigobert Song: “40 years after 1984, here we are again in Ivory Coast. Following the five trophies won, we are back on Ivorian soil. We are still in the period of wishes and in this circumstance, ours is that Cameroon can dazzle more than the Indomitable Lions roar and give the best of themselves.” He declared before adding that: “The President of the Republic has always exalted our “fighting spirit” so let’s show the world where that can lead. The Head of State also urges you to “fair play” by highlighting what he politically called “the glorious uncertainty of sport”.
Housed in Pool C with Guinea, Senegal and Gambia, Cameroon faces Guinea Conakry on January 15 at the Charles Conan Bany stadium in Yamoussoukro.
The indomitable lions, the supporters and the entire Cameroonian people want to repeat the experience of 1984. Especially since chance has it that they reside in the city of the first Ivorian president, Félix Houphouet Boigny, the one who handed over the first CAN trophy to the Lions.
As a reminder, Ivory Coast will host the 34th edition of the African Football Cup of Nations from this Saturday, January 13, 2024. The competition runs until February 11, 2024. The host country of the hospitality CAN faces Guinea Bissau in the opening match this Saturday. The match will be played at 8 p.m. at the Houphouet Boigny stadium in Abidjan.
